Ok so this may be a dumb question but I know everyone talks about dusting crickets before feeding but do you dust Dubia roaches as well? I'm going to order my roaches this week to start a colony and I just thought of this now. I would assume you do dust the roaches but just wanted to make sure. Also is there a chart or a link to a general calcium/vitamin usage? (how often, how much, and what age dragon requires what...stuff like that). I tried searching for something like that but couldn't find what I was looking for. I think its dust with calcium (w/o D3 since i'll have an MVB) everyday and the multivitamin 3 times a week but on the opposite feeding of the calcium. Is this right or do I have it wrong? Also if you are feeding a juvie beardie do you dust with calcium every feeding during the day or just one. Thanks...just trying to get everything straight on what and when to supplement.
Well I think I finally kind of came across what I was looking for after a bunch of searching...any other help would be appreciated though if you have something to add. Do you dust the roaches the same way as you would crickets or is there an easier method?
As far as dusting, yes definitely dust the roaches. The only feeders I can think of that you would never dust with Calcium would be Phoenix worms and Butter worms since they are insanely high in calcium already. Anything else needs to be dusted with calcium.
The general recommendation for a growing beardie is 5 times a week with Calcium once per a day (not every feeding that day). The 2x a week with multi-vitamin. I believe once they are around 18 months or so and have stopped growing, it is recommended to reduce the calcium to 3x a week and still 2x a week on the multi-vitamin, not positive on that part though. Something like Mon-Fri with calcium, then Sat & Sun multi vitamins seems to be a common schedule for most people.
