Can I feed my young dragon dubias ~instead of~ crickets? Or does he need both?
I have read that the Dubias have more nutritional value, but then the crickets give him the exercise. I really really hate crickets, always have, and would prefer not to deal with them if it's not necessary. However, my love for my little guy outweighs that and I will do whatever is best for his health and happiness, and I would not have considered bringing him home if I was 100% unwilling to feed him crickets. They're just such a pain! Any thoughts?
You really dont want to rely on just 1 feeder insect IMO. The more variety you can offer, the better. So if you could do both, that would be better than doing 1.
That being said, I too hate crickets. But I use other insects (there are many out there) to still give a varied diet
That makes sense. I should have mentioned that I did also order some Phoenix worms for him this morning and they should be arriving in a few days, so I hope he likes those! Maybe I can try giving him the phoenix worms and dubia roaches and maybe only give crickets 2-3x a week so I am dealing with them less frequently.
