Hey so I just had a general question about the size of the dubias I'm feeding.
My dragon is a little bit over 12" now and 120 grams.
Her appetite is still huge, but the space between her eyes have not appeared to have gotten much larger.
That being said, following the 'space between her eye rule', she is still eating small sizes dubias (1/2 and less). What's bothering me is the volume of small ones she eats. I mean over 40 in a sitting and multiply that by more than one sitting..
I ordered medium dubias on Friday and those are roughly 2/3-1", which is bigger than the space between her eyes. Both days now she has still eaten over 20 mediums with no problem. Do I keep feeding her mediums which are slightly larger than the space between her eye? It seems she chews them pretty well.
yeah dont worry about the rule of thumb with the eye thing, mainly just use that for babies and small juviniles. once a beardie is larger than say 8 inches, you can feel safe that they are strong enough to chew up their food really well. It is all personal preference but by Fred eats food much bigger than the space between his eyes, he just tears it apart so he can swallow it. Having your basking temperatures nice and hot is the more important part when it comes to feeding. it's your call on what size to feed depending on how he eats them. If he just swallows them whole then definitely dont give anything large.
