i orded 200 mixed nymphs and they arrived a week ago, i got them just to make sure that my almost 5 month old beardie liked them before starting a colony, he obviously loved them, so i ordered more and they came today, now i have about 600 or so mixed nymphs (more small than other size) and 25 + adult pairs, i bought a 10 gallon tote to put them in, should i use that or i also have a 36 x 12 x 12 glass aquarium? also, i am using a under glass tank heater but i dont think its enought and i dont have a night bulb, what is better more heat or less light for them bc i have a few halogen bulbs and clamp lights. i bought some water crystals from the pet store and crushed up some cat food for them to eat/drink, also threw in a cut up apple.
so basically im asking
1) should i use the 10 gallon tote or the 36 x 12 x12?
2) should i use a regular bulb for the time being or let them be a little colder but have their darkness?
3) any other suggestions
A 10 gallon is a start however you are going to want a bigger one soon! As for the light I just use a human heating pad under the side where the egg creates are! They thrive in the dark! Hope this helps and thanks for the pic..
I have mine in a 30 gallon glass tank with an under tank heater. I just used newspaper to cover the sides, have a mesh screen on top, and have a blanket over that to keep the heat in, roaches seem to be fairly active. I would say to give them their dark though.
