I mist Bodhi twice a day with a spray bottle and that's basically all the hydration she gets (besides juice from her fruits). Her poop is looking crusty and not hydrated, because she doesn't know how to drink from her water bowl. I've tried lots of things, but she simply will not drink it unless I'm there to push her head in the water. My friend (who is a reptile owner) said that this is because she's not thirsty, but I'm not for sure what to do, or how to get her to drink on her own. Suggestions?
Beardies don't often associate still/standing water with drinkable water. Often what I do is fill a glass with water and dip finger in it then let the droplets fall on the tip of my BD's face so it runs down his mouth and he'll start lapping it off himself. I also rinse his mixed greens off and leave the layer of water after rinsing so he gets some water in him when he's munching on his greens. You could also occasionally give him a veggie high I water content like cucumbers or a fruit like water melon on rare occasions. The eye dropper or pipette option is also a great one.
So what you'll want to do, is picture the top of your beardies head, and from the eyes and the nose, it makes a triangle, squirt a little bit of water into the center of the triangle, and she will lap it up. You'll know when she's done, when she starts putting her head up in the air, so that the water runs towards her back, then, she is done drinking. Try that once or twice a day.
