Was looking around the local normal pet store today... and noticed that they do dried mealworms... This may be a stupid question but would you be able to feed them to your beardie? (I'm thinking more of an adult beardie as they wont have as much protein). It said they were ok for birds and stuff, so i was just wondering.
hello ,I also would like to know about the dried mealworms, but also, ive just this week started feeding my adult beardie(2yr old pigg)mealworms, and was just told today im supposed to cut the heads off,im wondering do you do this,im worrying a bit now that ive damaged pigg ,sorry about butting in and not knowing your answer, chris
Mealworms are not the best staple. They have a high shell to meat ratio and are difficult to digest when alive. I cant imagine what it would do to a beardies gut when dried out. The cutting of the head is just an urban myth.
I must agree aswell, If your beardie will eat other feeders I would never bother with mealworms.
Also anything you buy freeze-died/frozen/dehydrated has just lost a great whack of nutrients.
Unless your desperate I definatly wouldnt bother.

I use them as a kind of filler, I feed crixs and PWs as the main feeder and I put a small plate of the dried worms next to the plate of veggies and I occationally put the vita supplament on the dried worms but I never feed very many of them because I'm afraid of impaction. My beardies always eat them even after engorgeing themselves on crix and PWs. I figure its another sorce of protien to help them grow.
