The other night I heard a weird screech sound, I come and I and saw my BD had thrown up. She has never ever not once done so, and it smelled quite bad. Recently have changed her tank around, and introduced Dubias and Butterworms to her diet. She goes to the bathroom normally and is starting to shed on her side.
Then the day after she kept having her mouh open the whole time and looked like she was tired... Hard to describe it any other way. I don't know if all these changes are making her sick or what but she seemed to absolutely love the roaches and worms. Now I come home today and she has her mouth open and it looks like theres something in her throat?!? I quite concerned here, I have TRIED getting to look in her mouth or getting her to open up but she will not have it at all. (PS I know the sand is bad, I was going to remove it today but got home really late from work. Going with paper towels until I finish her new viv with slate tile as a substrate)
Hi there.....how is she doing now, is she eating ? Any more vomiting ? She would act sick for a while after vomiting. And it's possible that she ate too many new " bugs", and it upset her stomach. Go easy on the new bugs....she looks to be a hefty girl too. Do you mean that there is something stuck in her throat , or there seems to be a growth ? If you mean that her throat itself looks odd, Google pics of open mouthed bearded dragons, or throat pics of beardies so you can compare. Their throats are kind of strange looking. Any type of growth could only be helped by a qualified reptile vet. If you need to get her mouth open, try sliding a credit card in and gently open her mouth. Hopefully she recovers from her bout....be sure to offer lots of water now so she doesn't get dehydrated.
To me it looks more like theres something stuck there than a growth. I've given her squash (which she loves) and she ate all of it. So I don't think its affecting her appetite, it was just something literally not there in the morning after then the next day all of a sudden it was. I have not noticed any new vomit in the tank at all so I believe that is a good sign. I will try the credit card thing and see what happens, Going to wait until she is back in the cool side to try any fiesty moves
Just thought I'd post up that she is doing fine now, and has been shedding little bits since this incident. I was sitting by the computer and suddenly heard her crunching something which was odd since I had not fed her yet, and the lump was gone. I guess it was just some food stuck there or something of the like. Been working on her new home which I hope she likes. It is almost double her current housing
