So my cousin has a bearded dragon which he got in May on the 26th of this year and I don't know the age but he got him when he was little so I'm guessing he's around 7 months old maybe? Maybe a big older but my cousin said he hasn't been eating, he's not very active and that he's been going to sleep early, around 3 PM. I am not sure if it's because he is going into brumation since it's getting colder or if it's the size of the tank. I've been telling him he needs a bigger tank since he has a 20 gallon and his bearded dragon is WAY too big for it. I got my dragon on August 14th and he is eating fine and he's going to sleep a bit early but not as early as 3PM (More around maybe 8-9PM sometimes later) and he is very active. Does anyone know what could be happening?
It could be a lot of different things happening. But it's hard to know for sure without knowing more details about the dragon and the husbandry. Do you have pictures of the tank and the dragon? Or would your cousin be willing to join the site that way we can speak directly with him and try to help?
Brumation can happen in dragons that young, but when there is something else that may be obviously wrong then it's not a safe assumption.

Please have them upgrade to a bigger tank ASAP--- adult dragons need a 75-120 gallon tank 4x2x2--- incorrect lighting will contribute to brumation behavior --- please post pics of the tank -- if hes using a coil UVB this is a big issue ---- basking temps need to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer placed on the spot where the dragon basks ---
I don't have any recent pictures of him or any pictures of the tank but I'll try to get them soon. He's on the younger side so I am not sure if he'll be able to use the website.

No I know his whole family takes care of him, his parents and his older sister
Here is a picture of him now, my other cousin (his sister) sent me a picture. The picture on the right is a before. (Sorry they aren't the best quality, I couldn't get a terrarium picture yet)

He looks good but proper lighting and basking temps are a must -- this is imperative to the over all health of the dragon and their behavior -- we will be happy to assist in getting the tank properly set up for him / her
