****Poop warning*****

Hello, is orangish firm urate normal in a baby beardie? He's 2.5 months old. My last beardie who was my 2st beardie Shenron passed of gout at 7.5 months so I'm probably a little paranoid maybe but gotta ask. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

They can definitely pass some dry hard urates, at any age. It is perhaps a little bit of dehydration,
so try to increase the oral hydration if possible. Are you using too much calcium powder?
Try cutting back on the calcium or other supplementation by a day or two weekly right now & give
more oral hydration & vegetation if possible.

Ok thank you. I'm giving calcium dusted on about 6 or so dubias 5 days of the week. Could that be too much? So the color in itself is not an issue? I think I did figure out that he couldn't see his salad very well but now that I give it to him on something flat he eats more of it. I'll keep an eye on it and start trying to get him to drip drink. Thanks!

Keep us posted on your results please. I have a similar problem, but calcium reduction and hydration did not improve the result for me. Now I think it's because of the carrots I give to the dubia. The second version is that my dragon is also red and the pigment somehow affects urates

May 13 marked one year
But he had a little orange urates from birth.
The breeder said that he did not see the problem, but here on the forum I read that it could be an overabundance of calcium.
I tried to exclude calcium for two weeks, but it did not help, he is well hydrated, I sing him from a pipette every day and he does not eat red vegetables.
Unless it's cockroaches that eat carrots.
Maybe the orange color of the beardies means increased carotene, which is also reflected in the color of the urate? I don't know, but if you can figure it out, please let me know.

Carrots will cause orange urate -- cut back on feeding the roaches carrots -- mine did the same thing to Hiccup and I cut the carrot frequency and it straightened it out

I agree it doesn't look like blood to me either.

Perhaps the photo does not convey the color correctly, but I see yellow urate with an orange tip.
I think if there was blood it looked like beetroot juice.
It did look a little more like blood than the photo shows but maybe not. Thanks

Is he having any symptoms or acting weird? If not i would just drop that sample at the vet for testing. At a minimum it might give you some piece of mind.

How is Errtu doing?
Did you manage to get rid of orange urates?
He's doing well. He did test 4+ Coccidia but we are waiting another week and getting him retested before we start any meds. The orange urates are gone now and he does not seem ill and hasn't. He's starting to finally settle in and get used to my kids who are here half the time. He's not as skittish and stays out and basks more. Thank you!

I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
