Good afternoon all,
Just set up my first cricket breeding container. It's a 21 gallon rubbermaid container with a 4x5 inch heating pad on one side of the bottom of it. Does everything look good for the setup? (bear in mind I will be adding more egg cartons/paper towel rolls as they become available around the house). Any advice would be great! THanks!
you could just set the lid on top of it slightly off (Idk how to explain it) and not seal it. Thats a pretty good set up ! Better than any of my previous ones anywho.
Wow that looks great! Unfortunately I don't have a hole saw, but I can use my box cutter and make some more air openings on the sides and just cover it with more screening material. Thanks!
Yeah, I would. If you don't have enough ventilation more crickets die off. It's also important to remove the dead ones too. Making a 2nd bin also makes cleaning easier. You just move the crickets into the clean one. The trick is to move the tubes or egg cartons slowley and few will jump off.
