I am refurbishing a rather large enclosure for my beardie Rex right now. I bought a 160w Megaray and haven't gotten as far as installing it yet, but had a few questions for anyone who uses that same wattage bulb.
1)How big is your enclosure?
2)Do you have additional heat besides the megaray?
3)What is the distance from your mvb to your basking spot and what temps are you getting?
4)What kind of basking temps were you getting at the min. 18" distance? (that is if you are more than 18")
5)How much ventilation do you have?
If anyone can answer any or all of these questions, it would be very helpful.
I can't right now. My husband took some relatives sightseeing today and took the camera with him. In fact, I've noticed you are from Milwaukee. My husband was born there, but grew up in Green Bay. The relatives that are here are from Marshfield and Luxenburg, WI. Are you familiar with those areas?
I had posted a thread on the enclosure when I bought it off craigslist last month. A few people responded and they didn't seem to think there would be a problem. I know I will have to put additional heat in the tank, because of it's size. Here's the thread..unfortunately the pic of the tank on Craigslist has expired, so you cannot view viewtopic.php?f=34&t=98208&hilit=
Hi Dawn. I have the 160 sb megaray over my 75 gallon tank. (approx. 48" x 18" x18") I have it at 23" from the basking log. It stays around 100 degrees farenheit. (that's where syd is happiest) I also have a 100 watt regular household bulb over the other end of the tank for light and heat. when i first had the megaray and tried it at 18 inches or so, it was wayyyy too hot. hope this helps.
