So for a while I've been considering switching my beardie enclosure from repticarpet flooring to some sort of tiling, for easier cleaning and nail filing purposes. The usual. But I'm concerned that a slate or concrete tile will absorb smells that may not wash out easily? Has anyone had this problem? I've also looked at some rubberized "tiles" or something called "envirotile" at Lowes (which is also rubber-based) with thoughts that it may be an easier (and less porous) option that may do less absorbing. Any thoughts?
I wouldn't use any kind of rubberized tiles, they can release fumes when they are heated up. Slate and rough ceramic tiles won't absorb odors, they wash off really well.
i have slate tile in my tank and whenever i clean it i do a mild antibacterial soap wash followed by a 30% vinegar 70% water mix to deodorize and neutralize the soap, and my beardie is as happy as can be in his tank.
