I have a male, too. We've had him since he was 10 days old and he is going to be 7 months old next week. He's brumating!! Already! He started to get a little attitude at 4 months old with puffing and his first
blackbeard was just about around that time, too. Our vet said he goes by size and sexual maturity when evaluating bearded dragon behavior and our Chief was really huge for his age. If we didn't meet the breeder, we would have almost thought he was older than he was by the way he is acting!
I wonder if your dragon is starting to feel his 'teenage years' - he's starting to get mature and maybe he sees his reflection in the glass and thinks there is another male bearded dragon on the other side. Honestly, that is my guess.
Chief also slowed down on eating which we attributed to the colder weather and their natural urge to brumate. Chief has been sleeping solidly for almost 2 weeks now, or right about that amount of time. Before this, he did some mini-brumations where he slept for a few days, woke up, and went back to sleep.
What do you think, knowing your dragon? Does any of this make sense to you or seem reasonable? I'm no expert by any means and have learned pretty much everything I know from this forum. I can only share with you my thoughts and experiences. Maybe some other people can chime in as well!
