I live in Florida which means that in order to provide my beardie with roaches I have to spend an absurd amount to get discoids because my colony thing seems to have a thing against making babies... Currently I use crickets as a staple but I really cant stand them anymore. I use Luna Roaches to buy discoids, and while the last 4 shipments of roaches had 0 dead ones on arrival, they are very expensive. I was wondering if anyone knows a good place to order discoids that doesnt break the bank and wont arrive with them all dead. For example Luna charges 25 dollars for 40 discoids, which is a lot except for the fact that my beardie is young and eats them all within a week. On the bright side I just bought 100 roaches and hopefully those ones will breed. I think discoids are probably just expensive in general since they are harder to breed than dubia, so if theres no better sight at least I can trust luna to provide me with live healthy ones.
Luna is excellent, especially for mixed sizes and bigger bugs. I will continue to order adults from them occasionally to add genetic diversity to my colony. My colony is just now breeding well, and I started it in late March, so give your guys time. While you wait, Joe's Bugz can be a good source of larger numbers of the babies or small nymphs for feeding. Luna and Joes are my go-to sources, but I've also had good luck with lindasgonebuggie. I hate the website, but she has some good deals sometimes, and she's very responsive to messages. There's also Ovipost, but they're hit or miss as far as availability.
