Just saw this guy this morning and didn't know if anyone else is in the area or close enough by that would be interested in helping him out. I think he looks a little thin and possibly dehydrated. Its hard to tell, the pictures are pretty crappy.
This is very sad, I started looking around more... this is not the first ad for this guy.
This poor thing.... they have another ad on craigslist stating that he hasn't eaten in 2-3 weeks. They want $150 for him with the 40 gal tank. I have an extra MVB bulb and everything I would need to maybe get him back to health. I just can't swing the re-homing fee they are asking for right now.
I don't see any reason at all that they should get the $150 they are asking, that is ridiculous! As a breeder, I have never seen a normal adult male sell for that much anyways, not to mention, he is in horrible health! Try sending them an email telling them you would be willing to take them but not pay more than like $20 for the rehoming fee since he is obviously so ill and will probably require veterinary treatment. People amaze me.
We are on our way to get him. Caved and gave him my wii that I never play anymore. Even if he doesn't make it, I'll make the rest of his life as cozy as it can be. Very sad. Wish us luck!
Ok everyone here it is! ! Mass update. As Ken explained earlier I went and got him after work. Ken said it was worth the trade even if he didn't live long just to make the last of his life the best that it could be! The poor thing was just laying on the bottom of his so called viv when i got there. He could barly move. I immediately put him under my coat so he could soak up as much body heat as he could, he was freezing. Got the viv gave them the wii and got the hell out of there as fast as i could! They couldn't even tell me when he pooped last. They gave me some veggies that they had for him but it looks like they had just bought the sh*t to make them look better, they are ALL fresh greens that had never been used yet! The guy didn't even remember what he bought. This poor guy is soooooo skinny, you can see his ribs, has NO fat pads whatsoever. He has one toe that looks like it was broken at one point. He has a tail nip and signs of MBD. I rushed home as fast as i could, stopped at kroger and got some pedialyte and some baby food. I got chicken and squash. I gave him a nice warm bath with the pedyalite mixed in, HE LOVED IT! I honestly dont think he ever had a bath before in his life. He flattened out on my hand and started to soak up the water. He even did his best to drink as much as he could on his own. God bless the poor thing. After his nice bath I put him on a heating pad on low, so he finally started to warm up. Right now he is sleeping, nice and cozy in a fluffy towel. I really hope he makes it.
This is our first rescue. I have been wanting to do this for a while now. Please any advice i might need please feel free to give it. You want to know the really sad thing??? I had to have my kids sit in the car with the baby sitter so that they didn't go up and say things to them about how badly he had been taking care of. My 10 & 7 year old even know better! When they saw him I thought they were gonna cry. I dont know what else to say right now other than i really hope he pulls through. I will post pics here in a few min. I have to put them on my computer first.
This should be illegal. I wish there was more that we could do. That is definately animal abuse and I can't believe those people put him through that. Check out http://www.rioreptiles.com and contact my friend Cheryl. She has liquid calcium and bugs and loves to donate to the needy dragons. There is definately a special place in heaven for you. Good luck with him!
He thankfully survived the night. We were both so worried we had trouble falling asleep. We put the proper lighting in and he is just itching to get up to his new temporary basking spot. With all his energy and strength he made it. We covered one of those log hides with a towel to make it more comfortable for him. After warming up for a while we will give him another bath and try some baby food maybe. We didnt try to feed him last night because we didnt want to stress him out anymore than he was already. So far so good.
