It may take time to establish a healthy diet and routine, so keep up what you are doing. At 8 years old, it's important to include plenty of vegetables in the diet along with some insect protein. Crunchy shelled bugs like roaches might help with the buildup around the teeth, but I think in this case there may be some infected tissue adding to the problem. I think that the best thing you can do for now is to keep the teeth and gums clean and see if they start to heal up a bit on their own with proper lighting and diet. My vet suggested using maxiguard gel as an oral cleanser, but I think the diluted betadine will have about the same effect. When the vet treated one of my dragons for gum disease, they were able to cut some of the infected tissue from his mouth/gums and advised keeping the area clean with the maxiguard while it healed. This seemed to help a bit and the infection/inflammation was reduced. I would be careful not to get too aggressive with treatment at first unless you notice problems eating such as signs of pain or avoidance of all foods which could lead to bigger problems. If you don't see these problems, I'd get the lighting set up and keep gums clean and watch for progress over the next few months.
