So ive been wondering, since beardies get their d3 from the sun in the wild, and the sun is out for like half of all the time they are alive, can they not get d3 poisoning from that? And if they dont is the d3 in calcium plus d3 really concentrated or something? Not an urgent matter just something i was curious about.
When giving a supplement with D3 in it, the substance is synthetic & not naturally produced in
the body. It is stored in fat cells, thus it isn't excreted daily like B vitamins or vitamin C. It can
become toxic over time. When they are exposed to natural sunlight, their bodies naturally will
make D3 in amounts needed for them & it is stored in just the right amounts. This way, the body
controls how much is made.
Hope that helps!
