I am starting to plan out a new tank for my current beardy and I will likely build two near identical tanks to have a second beardy in the near future.

The basis of my plans so far is to use three 8x4' pvc panels to build a 60x30x30" tank. I'm planning on having a solid top with either sliding or swinging front doors and vents on the side and/or back.

I want to use a more natural substrate such as a mix of soil/sand/other, but I am unsure of what exactly this mix should be. Recommendations on specific soil, sand, or anything else that should go into it would be appreciated. I dont intend on making it bioactive, instead i will be cleaning regularly and replace periodically. Ive seen replacement timeline recommendations range from every 4 to 8 months, any thoughts on this?

Due to having at least 4-6 inches of loose substrate, I plan on the front lower lip of the tank going up at least 6-8 inches (min 2 over substrate depth) but im still looking for recommendations on how to keep this as clean as possible, ie prevent substrate from being flung out. My current tank doesn't have doors perfectly flush with the tank, so dezzy would easily kick dirt to it and have it fall to the floor.

I'm only familiar with lighting tanks at a max size of 4x2x2'. Any recommendations on how to handle lighting a tank of this size (60x30x30" / 152x76x76cm) would be appreciated. I can mount/hang lighting anywhere necessary. I use 60w halogen bulbs for basking and it's easier for me to find/purchase reptisun than arcadia.

Last but not least, I'm terrible at picking out and placing decor items. Any help/recommendation in this regard will be appreciated the most.

For the substrate I would recommend the excavator clay as it is the safest and best loose substrate. Here is a photo of what my beardie tank is to help you with tank decor. Also I would recommend you to put a climbable wall so your beardie can have more things to do in its enclosure.

Is that to say escavator clay alone or in addition to soil/sand?

So to any reading this, how on earth do I post a thread 😅 New here, possibly too old for this

I have questions about bubbles on our bearded dragons eye.

So he’s gotten bubbles on his eye. We wiped them off and it’s only been twice in the last few weeks. Should we be concerned? No coughing or congestion. He’s very hungry and sleeps well. He’s 8-9 month range. His humidity is 30-40 day time and as high as 50-55 at night to early morning.
Should we be concerned?
