The vivs we are building are close to being done, and on a recent trip to Home Depot we picked up a box of tile for at least one of the vivs. I came on to make sure we got the correct, or best type of tile to use and it's pretty much all thumbs up for slate which HD didn't have.
I did make sure to get a nice size - not too small and not too big (I believe 4x4's), made sure I liked the color, and that it was not too smooth so that it wouldn't be too hard for the beardies.
I ended up getting glazed porcelain. Is this okay? It does have good texture to it. Has anyone used this? Should I just take it back and visit Lowes?
Should be fine, I had a similar tile in my female beardies viv for some time. The only issue I had was the texture ended up wearing her back inner nail down to nothing. I have since switched to slate, and keep a towel down on half her viv, and the nail is growing back.
That said, tiles vary so much its hard to say if there will be a problem...just keep an eye on your dragons back feet. If the nails start wearing too much, think about throwing a nice soft towel in there for your dragon to walk on part of the time.
