Hey everyone! I had a beardie that I lost to impaction last year. He was in the crushed walnut shell for 3 yrs and it finally took it's toll. I was devastated because the bag of shell said it was digestible. So now I have little Stewie and I wanted to make sure history doesn't repeat itself. I went to Home Depot and bought the self-stick squares of kitchen flooring. It's very cost effective, about $1.25 per square, and I only needed 5 squares for a 30 gallon breeder tank. It's easy to install and easy to clean! Now Stewie won't have substrate in his food and water. It looks awesome and he really likes it. Please give it some thought because I would hate for anyone to have to go through what I did when I lost Jack.
I get left over newspaper rolls for cheap from the newspaper producer...
I cut it to size doubled up...and lay it down
then get actual slate tiles from Home depot or lowes...
lay them out.
this way you can remove them for an extra clean environment...the newspaper absorbs anything that gets passed the tiles. Newspaper also works as insulation.
