Help, I think my dragon is constipated. I've never had this issue before and am not sure what to do? I have been massaging and giving warm baths but its not helping. His vet is out this week and so if anyone has ideas that might help it would be appreciated.
Preferrably the babyfood applesauce, due to there being no sugar added. You can also try a drop or two of olive oil or mineral oil mixed in with the applesauce.
Dewi seems to be having problems pooping, too. I don't think she is impacted as she is on tiles and not eating anything weird.
She has been the same for a couple of weeks now - only pooping about every 3 or 4 days...a big one.
SHe seems okay otherwise...eating fine..no lethargy. In fact, quite the opposite over the weekend where she threw open the viv doors and rampaged around the house. She wanted to be out of the viv as soon as she had been put back in and warmed a little all day Saturday...I eventually just kept shutting her in the front room and letting her roam. (We have two dogs too, so she can't roam unchecked) Same again Sunday morning when she finally did a giant poop on the living room floor after about four days of not pooping at all.
She seems more settled again now, but I am concerned at the lack of pooping - she used to drop one off regularly once a day.
I know this can be part of brumation starting...temps have dropped somewhat the past couple of weeks in blightly...but I see no other signs
So far no pooping I have not been home since lunch so maybe when I get home from work...Hopefully, he looks so uncomfortable.
I have been giving baths and massaging but it is difficult because he will fill up with air when he hears the bath going. How long should I wait until I contact a vet? His vet gets back on Monday but I think there is one other that sees reptiles if I need to.
still no poop....I am noticing that when he deflates it only deflates on one side the other side is still big and kinda hard. Is that something else besides constipation???? help
I have just returned from the Vet and Jaws doesn't have constipation like I thought...They took an x ray and he has a huge tumor!!! I'm so scared for him. The vet doesn't think its cancer as the tumor is huge and there have been no issues and he is still alive. Jaws will be going in first thing in the morning for surgery. Please pray for him!!!
Oh no! I am so sorry to hear Jaws has a tumor... poor guy
We will all be praying for Jaws' surgery to go well.
Please keep us informed as to how he is doing.
well its been a long and difficult day. Jaws made it thru surgery but it was discovered the huge tumor is cancer and it was everywhere.
It was a very hard decision but we had him put to sleep as there was nothing the vet could do. the tumor was intwined in his organs so....
we went and said our goodbuys a couple hours ago. he is now at peace and we will get his ashes to keep.
