Hi all! I'm coming on here as I have no idea what to do anymore. I've read other forums and I just don't know anyone. I have a 1 year old beardie male, I've had him since he was 3 months old. He started glass surfing about 4 months ago and it's only gotten worse. From when I turn his light on to when I turn it off. I will take him out and hang out with him but he starts glass surfing my window and trying to jump off my bed. I feed him greens every day (turnips, collard, peppers, celery, carrots, broccoli) fruits every once in a while and freeze dried at the moment since I moved and am trying to figure out the live feeder situation. He doesn't seem to want to be in his tank nor with me. I have zero idea on what to do, I just want him happy and healthy and he just doesnt seem happy. I feel awful for him and it does get a little exhausting hearing him all day against the glass. Nothing I do is helping. His basking side is 95-101° and his cooling side is about 75-85°. He does have one hide out spot but he doesn't go in there much. And he has a hammock. I just ordered him a bridge, maybe he's bored? But I'm not sure, it seems like he doesn't really care to be near me. Any suggestions would help! I at a lose right now. Thank you tons!
UVB your using please ------------ NO coils --- basking temps are being taken how? NO stick ons they are inaccurate -- what size tank ????????? It could be hormonal but we must get lighting and temps figured out first ---- this is extremely important for the behavior his exhibiting
So right now he has a T5 10.0 UVB strip light which goes very about half of the tank. The basking side is a 100 watts, and this is a 40 gallon tank. I take the temps with a infrared thermometer. No coil! But could it be something with the UVB?
Where is the UVB ? Inside the tank or top of screen ? The UVB needs to be inside the tank if the screen is a fine mesh - like a screen door - if its a wide hole type it can sit on top but the screen MUST BE a wide hole type---- distance inside the tank 12-15 inches directly over the basking decor top of screen 8-10 inches w/ decor directly underneath --- the IR gun will not read off of hammocks - I would recommend you get a or 2 digital probe thermometers they are the most accurate --- what is the ambient temp in the tank ? Is it too hot ? Any colored bulbs in the tank ?
The UVB iss on top of the screen. The house are pretty small, I think maybe the average size if there is one? So I should probably but it in the tank? I'll have to look up how to get it in there or do you think I would need a whole new UVB set up? I will look into the 2 digital probe thermometer. At night the ambient temp has been about 75. Might drop a little since out ac was out. No lights at all at night for him.
