Concern about my Bearded Dragon's Bent Toe – Will it Heal or Cause Future Problems?

Hey everyone,

I bought a baby bearded dragon about two weeks ago from a reptile store here in Florida, and I noticed that even from the time I got him, one of his toes looked off. It’s bent at a complete 90-degree angle, and it seems like it's growing that way.

Right now, I’m not seeing any mobility issues, and he’s not showing signs of pain. He's eating well, though he’s going through a bit of relocation stress—he was super friendly the first few days, but a couple of days ago he started hiding more, though he's still basking, so I think he's just adapting.

My main concern is the bent toe. Will it heal eventually and straighten up, or is he going to stay like this for the rest of his life? Could this cause circulation problems, rotting, or discoloration down the line? I’m worried about potential future health issues because of how his toe is growing.

Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

@Drache613 is probably the best person to talk to about it, she is a vet tech. She is on late nights though.
My male Sinatra has a toe that is bent but it curves sideways. He's had it his whole life and it hasn't caused any issues. But it isn't as severe as your beardies.

Hello,

Wow, that is a bit strange. It looks like it may have been broken. Will the end move at all, or does it seem
to be permanently fixed that way? If it isn't loose & you aren't able to move it, then trying to straighten it could break it. If it is somewhat loose, then there is a possibility that you could make a slight splint to help it straighten out.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
