I do not have coil lights on my tank for my beardie, but I have heard bad things about them. Could someone explain to me exactly why the coil lights are bad. I just want to know for my own information, so that if someone I know is going to buy a coil light I can tell them why it is a bad idea. Thanks.
Coil-shaped, UVB-emitting lights are bad. Stick with an MVB or a Reptisun 10.0, 24'' tube. Compact flourescent, or "energy saving" lightbulbs for your house are fine for added light. In fact, beardies seem to prefer those over regular bulbs, adn they are great for summer when you want the extra light without the extra heat.

Yes exactly I know they are bad, but I want to know why. By the way I am a she not a he. Just to make this clear I do not have a coil light, and I never will! I just want to know why they are bad.
