So my beardie started closing one eye. It is on either side too. One minute he'll close one side, open it and close the other. At first, I thought it was because I was looking at him and he used the eye furthest from me to see me through the reflection in the glass. But then he left that one open and closed the other one. He really only does it underneath the light, although I haven't seen him off the thing he sits on to see if he does it. He's a baby and it's kind of confusing me on why he only closes one eye at a time. Any thoughts?
I don't known if you are or not but, do not run ANY type of illumination at night (nothing that emitts light), it disturbs their sleep patterns and, makes them grumpy.
If it does, the reason he would still be closing his eyes when the UVB light is off is because the compact bulbs cause PKC (photo-kerato-conjunctivitis) which is very painful and even if the light it off, the irritation & pain continues. You can read more about it here as well as view the pictures. http://www.uvguide.co.uk/phototherapyphosphor-info.htm It would be a good idea to turn that UVB light off for at least a few days to help his eyes recover. Then replace with the Repti-Sun 10.0 strip fluorescent tube or one of the Arcadia bulbs.
Yes it does look like that. The thing is. He doesn't just keep one single I closed. He will open the closed one, and then in a few seconds or more close the other one. Or he just keeps both of them open for a period of time. And I just started turning my lights off at night yesterday. I've had a light on at night since I got him which was 3 days ago.
