Hi guys,
My beardie has very clogged femoral pores and I have been soaking him in warm water in hopes of the gunk in his pores to soften. My mom tried contacting a vet and they said to put betadine solution onto the pores? I have been a bit skeptical about how this could play out, and my mom refused to ask any further questions to the vet. So I was wondering if you guys would recommend this? Thanks so much!
I think a betadine/water solution to soak in for 10 minutes a day would help. Also be sure to have rocks + logs in his tank that he can rub his legs on. The rough surfaces usually keep the pores from clogging as the dragon walks along on them. Can you post pics of his legs as well as his tank set up ? Here's how to post pics :
FWIW, the treatment I read a couple days ago said soak in a warm (100°F) bath for 30 min., followed by gentle brushing w/ a soft (baby) toothbrush, and finishing with a thin smear of neosporin (or equiv.) Repeat daily as necessary.
Z's pores are fine, but more pronounced now that he's a teenager, so now they're part of his weekly monitoring along with measuring/weighing.
