Another health post about Narley, sadly. He has had nothing but problems since he came to me in August. One of my chief concerns since the day I got him has been his chronic diarrhea and difficulty going to the bathroom. I had him treated for (and supposedly cured of) coccidia, but he still struggles to go to the bathroom, and when he does, it's this enormous amount of diarrhea and often times undigested food. In the 3+ months that I've had him, he's never had a normal stool.
I came home today to find HUGE lumps of barely digested greens and roaches. So large that I was surprised he could pass them. The vet says he's clear of parasites, but I'm wondering if he has a digestive issue. I'm bringing Narley to the vet on Monday to follow-up on a shed problem, and I plan to show her a picture of today's stool. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever encountered this with a dragon?
I've never had a beardie with this problem myself, but just wanted to ask if he's been on any probiotics like Acidophiliz+, Benebac or soy yogurt. I think bee pollen is good for the digestion as well as milk thistle. Have you tried any supplements ?
I haven't as I wasn't able to find any at ANY of our local pet stores, but that is a good thought - I might see about ordering some online to see if that helps. Thank you for responding!
You're welcome. I believe Drache613 [ Tracie, one of the mods. here ] may sell some of those products. By the way, you may want to keep your other dragon away from him....he could be carrying a virus as well. You might ask Tracie what her thoughts are.
Thanks, I'll PM Tracie and see if she can get back to me with any thoughts! My two boys really hate each other, so I keep them in separate rooms in my apartment and they're never out together. That is another good suggestion, though, I'll make sure I keep my hands clean in between handling the two just in case!
