Chirpless crickets...parasites??

I just bought some adult crickets from Petco and was surprised at how quiet they are... literally, no noise and it's been hours. I briefly read something about how it can be a sign they have a parasite. Apparently the parasite can control the crickets somehow. Has anyone had an experience with this? I'm considering returning them, but I don't want them to put them back on the shelf if they actually have parasites. I haven't fed any to my bearded dragon because I'm just not sure why they aren't chirping.

That would be a myth. Remember that only the males chirp and they will often be silent when you are around because they may detect you as a predator. They usually will chirp at night though.
That's good to know! I had no idea. I'm just glad it's not a parasite issue.

Getting ready for another day. Feeling sleepy. 😴
I just walked into my room and instead of looking at me, Swordtail's eyes darted directly to the ice cream drumstick I'm holding
Finally replaced Swordtail's substrate
I miss you so much, Amaris 💔
What is a quick way to warm up a cold beardie? His heating element went out overnight and now he's very cold.
