Hi, I have a clutch of 11, it's my female's 2nd clutch and at about 63-64 days. One baby has hatched, one is hatching, 2 eggs caved in, one well over 24 hours ago, and the other, over 24 hours as well now. How long does it take for them to hatch once they cave, or is there something wrong with the babies?
all 8 from her first clutch hatched just fine, but I never saw them cave, just like I havn't seen the 2 that are/have hatched cave.
I have read replies on this forum where eggs have collapsed and it has taken over a week for the egg to hatch. Most people say around 24-48 hours is normal. Are the eggs still white? I had one that collapsed and then it turned very dark(mold). It did not make it....I say you just have to play the waiting game.
they eggs are still white thankfully. They are the smallest 2 of the clutch so hopefully they will hatch.
I have another clutch laid by my other female 5 days after this clutch. several eggs are sweating and none have caved in, but within the last half hour, one has begun to hatch. I find this odd since this clutch is 5 days younger than the one with the sunken eggs and they were all incubated at the same temp, yet the youger clutch is also hatching. 27 eggs in that one, if all the eggs from both clutches hatch, that will be 38! and I still have more!
ok, one of the eggs that has sunk has now begun to sweat? seems a little backwards?
not much movement from the remaining 9 of 11 eggs of that clutch otherwise, but now 3 babies out of my younger clutch of 27 have poked their little noses out. I watched one pop out of the slit. never seen that before!
oh no, they all hatched. 37 of the 38 have hatched as of this morning. Only one, large, very nice looking egg is left, and it has a lil bit of "sweat" on it the 2 caved eggs hatched around 36 and 40 hours.
