[QUOTE="Lobretto, post: 1997047, member: 115560"] If your basking light is blowing out often its ALWAYS the fixture you have it screwed into. I had to learn this the hard way years ago. First you need to ensure the fixture is rated for 150w, most not built for reptile top out at 100 watts. Second if the fixture is plastic it's a no go, they suck so bad, low quality garbage. Always get a reliable ceramic fixture for basking bulbs. As an example I was blowing powersun bulbs ever 10 days to 2 weeks, a month if I got lucky. I was using domes bought from home depot. Once I replaced the fixtures with ceramic fixtures rated at 200w I've yet to blow a bulb. Got 2 150w basking bulbs in my tegu enclosure that have been running strong for 2 years. If you still need supplemental heat after that just go with a tried and true ceramic heat emitter on a thermostat, you can't just throw a CHE or carbon bulb in there and let it run, it will get WAY to hot.
