my boyfriend and i were thinking of going to florida this summer which we would need to fly to. i know people fly with cats and dogs, but what about beardies? are they okay on planes? are they even allowed? anyone have experience with this type of travel with beardies?
this is all hypothetical. i can easily get someone to take care of him while we're gone, but i'd like to know if there is a possibility that i could take him with me.
i looked at several different airline websites and it looks like they only allow reptiles in the cargo area, which sucks because i have a tote bag made for carrying dogs, which would secure him safely (there's a mesh opening in the top with a zipper and everything). and i don't want him in the cargo area anyway. maybe i can convince my boyfriend that we should drive everywhere lol.
I would call them anyway to double check. Something small like a beardie they might let go in a tote like a small dog or cat would. For instance I see that United says snakes and "Certain other reptiles" must be checked, I would see what they mean by 'other' reptiles!

Let me know what you find out, or if you can successfully do it. I go to FL all the time to visit friends, and I want to be able to bring my beardie with me when I go. I thought about it last time I went, but then read that part about reptiles need to be checked as cargo.
