Take some long plastic zip ties and wrap around the fixture - one on each end and maybe one in the middle

I can't

I can't fit the zip ties through the lid, the holes are too small and if I wrap it around the middle, it'll be exposed directly against the bulb and just melt.
Ok what about hanging picture wire --or cut some of the mesh out to fit the plastic ties and just do the ends of the fixture hang it about 3 inches in on the fixture so the fixture doesnt slide out of the zip ties-- if you get them snug enough it wont move

The box says it has to be a minimum of 15 inches. Inside the tank attached to the lid is way less than 15 inches and the holes on the top are super tiny so he wouldn't be getting any uvb. How can we fix this.?

How far is way less? You want it 12-15 inches directly above him

Is this okay.? From his basking spot, it's about 15, maybe an inch or two more.

Ok take the log / stick decor piece turn it so the stick part is on the floor and the big trunk piece is under the uvb- get your distance you don't want it more than 15 inches or the uvb rays will be too weak
