Can someone tell me if her fat pads are sunken?

Hi there, sorry I didn't get back when you p.m'd. So the vet gave her antibiotics and dewormer " just in case " without knowing anything ? They can cause more dehydration and sometimes loss of energy + appetite but hopefully Cole will stay well.

She's been strong for as long as you've been posting here, laid her eggs like a champ and kept on trucking ! Best wishes for Cole, keep us updated, Tracie is always a great help here with all her knowledge. :)

As for a larger enclosure, check any for sale sites or just save money every month to buy one at some point.

Ok, thank you very much! The fecal test came back negative. But, the vet says sometimes there can be false negatives.

Hello, I didn’t give her the medicine yet. I was waiting for the fecal test to come back. Since it came back negative. Does anybody have an opinion on whether I should or shouldn’t give the medicine? Should I not give it while she is still doing better? Having a brighter beard, moving around well, and eating greens good. Because I don’t want her to suddenly do bad again because of the medicine. And get more dehydrated. Or should I give her the medicine? In hopes it will get rid of any parasites she might have if it was a false negative. Then, she will do better in the long run. Does anybody have an opinion on this? Thank you very much!

Hello,

He gave both medications for her? The Amoxicillin could cause some lethargic behavior but I doubt the Panacur would cause much side effects.
Since the fecal came back negative, I would definitely not medicate & especially since she is
doing well & has bright colors.
There are more issues with medicating when they aren't needed than not medicating.
How is she doing today?

Hello, she seems to be doing the same today so far. Her beard has been bright. She is eating well. She is still picky with plain greens. I can give her some sometimes. But, she is eating in her own. And the butternut squash allows me to give her extra fluids. I think she might have gotten used to the squash. I was going to try to get her to eat 100% plain greens again when she is back to being hydrated. I think her fat pads definitely look better than Saturday. Especially her tail. The head is harder for me to tell. It also looks like she will need to shed on her head soon. It is getting duller. I have a question about the amoxicillin. I didn’t realize it treated bacterial infections. I believe her fecal test does not check for those. Would you all still recommend not giving her that if she is feeling better? Thank you very much!

Hello,

She is looking good, with a nice clear beard. They are definitely picky with eating their greens. You can
continue giving the butternut squash to help with hydration, especially if she likes it.
Her head does look as if it could be getting ready to shed, but her fat pads
Keep up with her hydration daily as she will tolerate it. Let us know how she is doing.

Hello, I’m pretty sure she is gravid. I put a laybox for her to dig in. She ate greens yesterday but wouldn’t take them from me. Today, I haven’t got her to eat any greens yet. Is there a way to keep her hydrated without giving her greens. I can drop water in her nose. But, that doesn’t normally work. I can also put water in crickets. Are any of those good?

Hello,

How is she doing with taking her fluids now?

Tracie
hello, I think her fat pads are looking better. I was trying to give her hornworms 2-3 times a week. I like the horn worms because it’s an easy way to get her hydration. And she loves them. But, I think i have to stop that for a little while. She has been having really runny stools. So, I was going to wait till her stools were back to normal before giving her some again. Is that ok? Other than that I was trying to make sure she ate enough greens and keeping an eye on her fat pads to see if I should hand her a horn worm. I’ve been putting squash on the greens to help her eat and to increase hydration as well. But, some times she gets picky with it and only wanted carrot. Thank you very much!

Hello,

She does appear to look more hydrated. The hornworms do have a lot of water & moisture to them.
Have you tried sweet potato as well? What type of squash are you giving? That's fine to cut back on
the hornworms some, you can give crickets or superworms too.
Continue with the greens & hopefully she will keep up with eating at least some of them anyway.

Keep us posted on her.

Hello, I give her butternut squash. She ate it very well yesterday. So, that was lucky. Because if I can’t get her to eat her greens with the squash. All I really can get her to eat is the carrot with it sometimes. I got her yellow squash, bell pepper, asparagus, bok choy, and acorn squash to try. To hopefully give her more options. I have tried giving her sweet potato, but the pieces appear undigested in her stools. And cause her unformed stools. So, I get afraid to try it again. I have been giving her crickets. She loves those. I have also been giving her some pumpkin to firm her stools. Her poops look like they are slowly getting better. When they look better, I will give her a hornworm. Thank you!
