They are normally a little prominent. But, I can’t tell if today they look sunken.

They do look slightly, but how do the fat stores at the base of the tail look like?

Has she been losing weight?

-Brandon
I was looking at her tail thinking it looked weird too. But, I’m not sure. It looked good yesterday. I will send you picture. I can weigh her. But, she does not look like she has been losing weight. She is eating her crickets. And greens with mango. But, has been refusing her plain greens for a little while. And didn’t want butternut squash this morning. Her beard is dark. I’m not sure what is wrong. She has been pooping good. And the poops look good too. She is acting a little slower today. But, is alert. She was running around yesterday.

Her weight the last time I checked. A month ago was 352. Today it is 344-346. A month ago she gained a little. She most of the time is around 344-348.

She looks slightly dehydrated or just slim to me if I'm honest.
How do you hydrate her? Do you gut load your bugs? Have you upgraded her tank or is she still in a 40GAL?

I don’t normally do any extra hydration. But, recently she has been having lots of squash. Her poop always has water around it. She had 4 poops yesterday. And 3 for a couple days. She does this sometimes. Her poops were also unformed a couple weeks ago because of too much water. Her greens are normally fresh and moist. I give the bugs mustard greens and organic chicken laying feed. I have not upgraded her tank. I’ve been wanting to. But, it is difficult. It is technically a 50 gallon tank. I’m worried about her. Her tail looked fine yesterday. Now it looks weird. And I normally think she is overhydrated. Maybe it is from all the poops. Her poops have gone like 1 today. 4 yesterday. 3, 3, 2, 1, 2, many 1s. Then, one day she took 6 days for a poop. And it had about a lake of water around it.

So many poops are not common for an adult dragon. My girl is a juvenile and doesn't poop as much, let alone my adult boy, who poops not even every week.

40 or 50 doesn't really matter, you want at least 120GAL. You can't really expect her to thrive in such a tiny tank, it can cause her stress which leads to all kind of health problems (including inproper digestion)!

Ok, thank you. I understand. You made a lot of great points. I will keep working in getting a larger tank. I know her pooping like this isn’t normal. Someone told me they think it is probably ok because her poops are good looking. But, I would like her to go more regularly. It makes sense that her tank could be the cause.

Hello,

I PM'd you as well.
Her fat pads are sunken in some, yes. Is she excreting excess fluids with each stool?
Try getting some butternut squash, or some sweet potato into her to help give some bulk for nutritional support.
You could consider getting a blood test to see if her kidneys are working properly.

Yes. She excretes a bit of excess fluid in each stool. I will try butternut squash and sweet potato. I think her fat pads might be better today. Her beard is better too. I will get her a blood test. Thank you.

Hello,

I messaged you too. I am glad you have a vets appointment for her. She does look very good.
Hopefully her beard will stay lighter in color.
Let us know how the vet visit goes.

Hello,

Great, I do agree that blood tests are very stressful. Hopefully she wont need to get one right now. The fecal test will help to determine what may be going on, if anything right now.
Which medication did the vet give right now?

Hello, he gave amoxicillin and pancur. Would any of those make her feel lethargic or have a lack of appetite? Thank you!

Gus - he’s a rescue!
How much water should I be giving my bearded dragon? He will only drink from a dropper when I drop on his nose and I’m not sure if I should give it to him until he won’t drink anymore? Or should I stop after he’s had a certain amount?
