Ok so I've been struggling with trying to find the right UVB light for my dragon for months now. They don't sell Repti-Sun anywhere in my area, so right now I have a Repti-Glo in Spike's tank, which I know is not good for him. I'm going to have to order something online, so can someone please refer me to a good website that will have the correct bulb, will ship to Canada and is not too expensive? I want Spike to be healthy and he's had the wrong UVB light for SO long now.
the best tube lighting is the reptiSUN 10. the best price i found was at petmountain.com for about $20 plus shipping. they're located in california, i think, and i'm not sure if they ship to canada. (steer clear of any compact or coil type bulbs. they're evil)
So I'm going to buy the Zoomed Repti-Sun 10.0. Is this right for Spike? His light is located about 24" back in the tank (which is about 32" deep) and is 12" up from the ground. Is this good?
your beardie should be able to get within 6 to 8 inches from the bulb. mine is set up so the bulb is approximately 13 inches from the floor of her viv (running accross the entire 48 inches wide viv)
and she can bask at about 6 to 8 inches from the bulb when she's on her log. hope i'm making sense to you.
and , yes, the reptisun 10 (tube) is the correct bulb.

That's good that you're getting the Repti-Sun 10.0, make sure it's the fluorescent one and NOT a coil or compact. As you probably know, there have been some problems with the Repti-Glo 10.0 fluorescent so the safest way for you to use it until you get the better bulb is to make sure it is 10" from your beardie when he is basking and also placed right alongside a bright white basking bulb.
