Hey guys i’m fairly new to the forum. I have a baby beardie (2-3months) and today i had a family emergency that came up and was unable to feed him. I am home now but his lights are already off and i don’t want to turn them back on to feed him because then they will have to be on for hours for him to digest. Do you guys think he will be ok?
He will be fine. They can go days without eating, but try to leave a salad in there at all times for instances like this. He will eat it if he is super hungry, if he didn't touch it, he is fine...they won't starve themselves.
For future reference .
Not necessary to leave a hatchling without food for a day, you could easily get some small silkworms (about 1 inch long) and leave them in feeding dish on a mulberry leaf or a pancake of chow for the day after giving the hatchling a feed of the usual staple feeder insects before leaving. The hatchling will discover the silkworms later and help him/herself at his/her leisure during the day .
The other options are to leave some blowfly gents or BSF lavae in an escape proof dish for the hatchling to visit and nibble on while away.
