If I've understood right, the rule of thumb is not to feed anything wider than the space between the beardie's eyes, but that the food can be LONGER than this. My dubia colony is producing a lot of extra adult males (with wings) that are around 2" long but are narrower than the space between my beardie's eyes.
Is it ok for him to eat them? Or at some point can food be too long even if it's narrow enough? My beardie is around 9" long, snout to tail. The length of these bugs is around 2", which is over 20% of the lizard's total length!
I would hold off on feeding the adult males for another 2 months and that still depends on how fast your beardie grows...And yes you are correct the width! I was in the same boat to many males and BD wasn't big enough to eat them, Once your BD starts eating the 7/8 and bigger than you can start to feed off them adult males
What I did is pick a finger that is the same width of a adult male, and then place your finger in between and centered on his head... Also you might wanna clip off the wings
