Hi everyone I’m new here and I’m finding out I don’t know as much as I should have before I got my wee guy or girl Ash.
I’ve had him for around 4 weeks. When I first got him his underbelly was white. He looked active enough, tail good but after a few days he got stress marks on his belly, wouldn’t eat more that one locust a day and a couple of strong rocket leaves. I’ve had to drip water on his nose. He keeps hiding at the hot end of the tank and sleeps most of the time. He’s starting to calm down when I hold him but I’m really worried. I’ve checked temperatures, everything seems fine. He’s pooping. I don’t understand why he’s like this. He’s eating is getting worse. I’ve never seen him eat or drink from his bowls. Can anyone help...
Hello! I'm new as well but may be able to help. The stress marks on his/her belly may be because he/she is starting to shed. He/she may be at the hot end to also help its skin loosen up to shed. Have you tried giving it a bath? It might make him lose trust in you but might help. Maybe change up his/her diet? Like I said, I'm new here but am happy to help.Hi everyone I’m new here and I’m finding out I don’t know as much as I should have before I got my wee guy or girl Ash.

I will post a pic of the tank and Ash asap.
Please go over the basking temps no stickons you need a digital probe thermometer- you want surface temps take the probe place on the spot where he basks 105-110 for a baby-- uvb are you using a coil or tube fixture? This stuff I am asking is extremely important- we need to fix this if it needs correcting- your dragon will not eat w/ out it correct- as far as bathing hold off on that it just stressed them out more- please feed fresh salads that is where they get most of their moisture- you can drop water on his nose see if he will lick it off-Hi everyone I’m new here and I’m finding out I don’t know as much as I should have before I got my wee guy or girl Ash.

Good lighting- distance for your uvb should be 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor- waxworms should be fed sparingly you don't want him hooked on them-- are you feeding any staple feeder?Hi karrieRee:
I have went over his temperatures. I’m using an Arcadia 39w pro T5 UVB 12%

Hi KarrieRee
I’m using a 100w basking light, an Arcadia 39w pro T5 UVB 12%. I have a dimming thermostat attached to the basking light. Are these ok? My temperatures are within the proper range although the cool side tends to get slightly hotter. I need to spray there. I do drop water on his nose and yes he licks it off but will only takes a couple of drops. I feed him a mixture of greens, red bell pepper, grated carrots and a bit of a blueberry or strawberry to temp him/her but still not eating. I do this every day plus mix it up too. He managed to eat some waxworms 15 minutes ago. Thank you for your help.
Hi AHBDHi there, can you post some pics of Ash and also pics of his complete enclosure ? I've seen a popular enclosure from the U.K here a lot, the very large one with a shelf/ledge to sometimes start babies in so if that's what you have it is usually too big for a tiny baby.
Yes I was feeding him locusts but he won’t eat them anymore. Using calcium powder with vitamins in it. Thank you.Good lighting- distance for your uvb should be 12-15 inches directly above the basking decor- waxworms should be fed sparingly you don't want him hooked on them-- are you feeding any staple feeder?
Oh meant to say one cricket burrowed and I couldn’t find it for a couple of days. I don’t use them anymore.Yes I was feeding him locusts but he won’t eat them anymore. Using calcium powder with vitamins in it. Thank you.
Ok I would recommend getting rid of the substrate+ you could try some textured NON adhesive shelf liner cut to the size of the tank and clean with vinegar and water 50 50 solution- next this is extremely important please get a fixture for your uvb tube- your dragon is not getting enough or any w/ no reflector- this is going to effect his eating and not being able to absorb his calcium- the uvb needs to be directly above a piece of decor 12-15 inchesOh meant to say one cricket burrowed and I couldn’t find it for a couple of days. Hi okay so I’m better with shelf liner. I was told to use this as it’s more natural to their habitat plus he does dig in the corners at the hotter side. By fixture do you mean the UVB tube holder as it has reflectors at each side as far as I know. I’ve got a big log for him but I thought it took up to much room. I will change his home. I usually put his food and water at the cooler end but been putting it near him as he doesn’t go down that end much due to being tired. Could you tell me if I still need to buy a reflector. I was also thinking of trying to feed him in his pet carrier and maybe try crickets again. Is this a good idea or do you think it will stress him more? I would get the substrate changed out the crickets won't be able to get under it but will be able to hide out in the decor- I would get him switched out to dubia roaches- you can try feeding him in another container or watch how many crickets you feed + that way you can pull.what he does not eat feed like 2 at a time- the uvb is it in a fixture or just the bulb w/ clips? If it's in a fixture it should have a shiny part running behind the bulb looks like tin foilI was also thinking of trying to feed him in his pet carrier and maybe try crickets again. Thank you for your reply. I’m using a tube fixture for the UVB light. I’ve put the digital thermometers and thermostat under the substate not the surface. I’m going to change this now. Maybe I’m not getting the right readings as there are air vents on the tank. It’s a wooden Vivarium too.
