Beautiful :) I saw the same on campus a few weeks ago, they are amazing :)
Agreed. Last year that particular Cactus ๐ŸŒต had about 25 buds form, I think it was 11 that actually fully formed into flowers. They are really beautiful.
A lot of the native cacti here have beautiful bloom.

Beautiful :) The one here on campus kept for 2 days (I checked).
I hope mine does to ๐Ÿ˜€ it's fun to watch them go through their cycles. All my cacti had a lot of growth this year, I'm very happy with them.
The wind broke off several pads from various cactus ๐ŸŒต I buried the end that had been attached back in the soil, and every one of them took root and started growing new pads!!! I wasn't sure they would, but I'm happy they did ๐Ÿ™‚

Mine (various kinds of succulents/ cacti) also had a lot of growth, and I really love keeping them.
So far, all of them bloom here once they reach a sufficient size.

Here, we have not much wind, so no pads breaking off. But all cacti and other succulents I own were grown from such as pads (often broken off or cut off by people whose cacti get too large), plants ripped out or cut off (gardener's trash pile on campus), found parts (the large tree succulent I had shown in another thread propagates by producing egg-shaped "things" (not fruits, more like pads) that root and those often fall over fences on the pedestrian walkway).
All of those took root and all of them are a lot larger now. I have e.g. one succulent I rescued from a trash pile, was fist-sized and in very bad shape, and now it's the size of a typical ball and I had taken a lot of cuttings myself from that plant and propagated. We live here for (only) two years, the plants are at maximum that old, but our succulent balcony garden looks like we have it for much longer.

That's awesome, a nice little place to zen out and relax ๐Ÿ™‚

Whatever gets too large on the balcony, I will bring it to my workplace.
It's an institute located in the desert, and it still looks very plain and rough, recently another part of our small campus was finished and all looks pretty much construction site. We try to grow succulents there, but it's harder as we have an overabundance of certain minerals in the sand. So whatever is too much for at home, I try growing it there. We already have a bit of succulent success there and are continuously trying to slowly also make this place looking more welcoming.

It sux that they go away do quickly.
Very beautiful! I remembered my childhood. I also had a cactus, it grew in a pot on the windowsill and once every few years it bloomed. I was always so happy and waited for it! Only it was burgundy and the flower looked like the tube of an old gramophone.

Pretty much all cacti have beautiful bloom and in such a variety of color. That particular cactus ๐ŸŒต had like 25 pods form last year, 10 or 11 flowered and opened. A couple flowered but fell off before they could open. I was a little bummed to only get 1 this year, BUTTTT it did put on about 18 to 20 inches in height (it's best year yet judging by the previous sections) ANDDDD it grew a new arm about 1/3 the way up. The new arm is already 12ish inches.
We have another of the same variety and it put on about 12 inches height also. All of our cacti are growing like crazy...... our other flowers, not so much lol. It's been 114ยฐ in the shade on my patio pretty consistently for a couple weeks now ๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต๐Ÿฅต
