I have had people over and over again that i should stop buying insects from pet stores and go online and buy in bulk. Anyone have any suggestions on a good place to buy from?
also inputs on butter worms and phenix worms ( also have heard them be called black lava worms) might have the spelling wrong.
is where I have bought Phoenixworms. They specialize in composting, but they have a feeder variety. It's a good price for a couple thousand worms, they package it beautifully and priority shipping is free.
And they are black soldier fly larva , but black lava worms sound so much cooler ! They are the larva of the black soldier fly [ essentially they are maggots ]
Yep in bulk online is the best way , can save a lot of time and you are guaranteed good quality insects by reputable commercial insect breeders.
Only way to get fresh insects (just arrived from the supplier) from petshops is to find out when they get their insect deliveries (usually the same day each week) and be there shortly after the delivery to be able to get fresh tubs rather than the ones that have been sitting on the shelves for a week or 2 or longer (if the turnover is slow).
