Bumblebee...roll out!

He’s here! The snow cleared and we were able to make it today. I was wondering why Tom didn’t work today.

He’s settling in right now and we tried to sex him he is still kinda young which I thought he’d be bigger (note I never met Bee or his parents). Breeder said he is the second smallest next to Donatello (the runt he’s keeping). So he had two runts Im fine with that. I had Kane out and he stopped by the 20 gall he tilted his head and black bearded at Bee (who’s in his tank btw) he quickly calmed down and just waved at him. They do not have adenovirus he said they didn’t (parents) Bumblebee and Donatello are both runts he assured us that he’ll grow out fine.

Here he is:

According to my husband (I don't remember things like that too well) Puff was 17" when we got him and 19" at the end of his life, so he grew a little even with adenovirus. He was about a year old when we got him, although we weren't 100% sure of his age. That's what they told us at the rescue and the vet said he looked about a year old, so that's what we assumed.

Maybe Bee will eventually learn to hold still just long enough to be measured :)

I hope you make it through your next storm without getting too stressed out.

The storm was fine. There was like a lot of water on the road that’s all.

I didn’t let Bee out yesterday and he definitely doesn’t like being out at night (even though it’s like 8-9pm). He makes it known by running around like a madman and then passes a stool on a paper towel. In the daytime he’s completely fine he’s more calm and not running around. He may still go potty but at least he’s calmer. Broly didn’t care day or night as long as it wasn’t close to bedtime he was fine to come out for 30 minutes (longer if daytime). I guess that’s settled he’s a daytime dragon. No more night sessions.

At least he does it on a paper towel instead of just anywhere. Easier to clean up.

What time do you put Bee to bed (as in turn off the heat lamps)? We used to wrap Puff up in a towel after I cuddled him when we put him to bed. I know that doesn't keep them warm because they don't make their own body heat, but I figured he cooled off a little slower that way, and maybe it made him feel more secure and maybe even more comfortable. He would go to sleep as soon as we turned the lights out either way though.

Clear and sunny here lately, but that means it still gets cold overnight when we don't have our cloud blanket. We're probably past the point where it's going to get below zero, but in Alaska you never know.

Lights off 11pm. I tried taming after he sleeps it didn’t work it just woke him up wouldnt go back to sleep on me. He was pissed.

Nah I place him on a paper towel. He holds it till I let him out of the tank LOL. He’s really into getting that “if I go potty Im going home.” I keep telling him it’s not working I got a paper towel here. I don’t have to put him back to clean up. The potty is getting bigger and smellier I chalk it up to all the protein he has to eat to grow. His “umbilical cord” mark has finally healed up into that faint line I read about. I don’t have to watch it anymore for infection.

I realized he’s a dark shedder on the underside of his body. Any part shedding looking on the underside looks like it’s gone gray. I suppose the top is more umm ashy looking. Broly was a yellow shedder on his underside. I better tame again as the last time was 1pm.

Sounds like Bee doesn't want to mess up his living space. Puff used to go "downstairs" to poop so he didn't mess up his basking platform. Beardies are usually pretty good about staying out of their own messes.

No, he’ll go in the tank too. I am gonna find a way to train him. I tried training Broly he would just go whenever no matter how many times I tried to get him to use the bathroom elsewhere.

Not much really to say, I should post pics instead but haven’t taken any recently. I am getting a new tape measurer and he might be 9 1/2” but I don’t know yet. Time for his breakfast and vitamin.

Oh I just learned something here! Covering them with a blanket when they are snuggling with you doesnt make them warmer? I didnt realize that it's the body heat that makes the blanket warm!

Yep. Your own body heat will keep them warm and the blanket makes it last longer (insulation), but eventually they will cool off even if you still have them wrapped in a blanket when you put them down. They just cool off a little slower.

Yup, blankets do nothing I learned this with my first boy.

I really need to measure also thinking about getting a book I don’t know what yet.

He was in a tude yesterday. Even though it was daytime he was going crazy. Then crapped on my shirt I was wearing. Well it was just urate but still.

The shed on his tail is taking a bit too long to get ready to come off so he’s getting a bath tomorrow. Yes I cleaned Broly’s old tub should be nothing harmful left in it. Half his torso is going into shed and if I remember correctly his two front legs. I gotta get to cleaning it is ant season so gotta make sure there’s nothing and set up bait just in case they come scouting in my house anyway.

My brat is still snubbing his veggies after he ate them and I gave him bugs. So we are back to square one with no bugs!

Yes Bee is being a pest. Not staying still but the slim luck I had he stayed still and definitely 9” long. I haven’t weighed since March 8th. I’m figuring weighing once a month I know a lot of owners do weekly with multiple dragons I just don’t have the energy I used to. Premenopausal state my body is in and the heavy lady days yeah the energy is gone. It’s gonna take a while to get the bit of energy back.

I did clean up everything and set out ant bait. My mom said she got bigger than the sugar ant. Bee helped clean as well as Jamie (don’t worry they DO NOT have access to the bait) and by “help” they stayed in the window.

My bestie brought over her bearded dragon who’s 4 months old. Kane has taken a liking to Ed (she named him after Edward Elric) and Bee now. Bee went into Ed’s carrier and Ed followed close behind. Ed isn’t known to be aggressive towards other beardies but she supervised him and Bee as I set out cold lemonade because today is so warm. Those two seemed to get along. Bee saw Ed go off back home and Bee went back to his tank. Bee went to take a nap he had a big afternoon but he’s up eating dinner now.

He’s definitely settled in well.

Also he’s getting tame! Took me a month but it’s worked out. He stayed in my hand instead of leaving. He got up on my shoulder instead of jumping he turned around and went down. He bearded at Ed (swear he’s learning chaos from Kane LOL). Either way it worked out nobody got hurt. Kane accepted Bumblebee woo! Everything is turning out pretty good.

I'm glad the other dragons are getting used to him 🙂 still be bery careful, even a nip from an adult could be devastating.

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?

Hey! We’re the same age! That’s cool!
Hi there a little update we went from a 50 watt heat lamp to a 100 watt basking halogen heat lamp hahaha I saw some comments about it being so close so I made sure to put it a ruler away from her
Has anyone seen this before? Something in the corner of his mouth
