Hello! I want to see if I can build my beardie a new hide area. I was just wondering whether anyone on here has custom built a hide out of things that they had around the house or cheap things that they've bought to make the hide. I was thinking about maybe using a terracotta pot and cutting it in half (with a hacksaw? maybe, idk). Any other ideas on something that could be used to make a good hide?
Terra Cotta would probably crack if you tried cutting it. I would try gathering some hardwood branches from the yard and then rinse them, bake them at 250 or so for about 30-40 minutes to sanitize them, then arrange them in a way that would provide a perch and some shady area.
Here's a website to give you some ideas as well. I used foam that I shaped and layered then covered with grout, painted it and then sealed it when I had Suki to make a staircase, basking area, and cave all in one. It was a fun project and took a few days, mostly to let everything air dry.
