Brumation

Hi all, hope everyone is well. My Bearded Dragon dug out the sand from under her cave and has now slept now for 2 days so I am guessing she has started to brumate. She is 13 months old so this would be her first time. Do I still put out greens everyday and a little water in a dish or do I not offer this. Just so you know I'm in the UK so starting to get cooler now. I have reduced her lamp time today from 12 hrs to 10 hrs I hope that's ok.

Thank you in advance for your help 😊

Still offer greens just in case. Sometimes they will act like that. If she truely wants to brumate she'll stop eating and flush her system. Sometimes they just get really lazy and nap a lot but still eat and poop. If she stops eating and sleeps full time after a week or so I'd stop putting the greens out.

The day before she did flush out her system she 💩 3 times leaving just water and didnt eat then has been sleeping since. I will still put greens out everyday and thank you 😊

Sorry just a quick question, 90% of the time she is asleep but now and then open her eyes and lift her head and chill and not move then sleep again. Is this normal? She has been like this for 10 days now. Is it right to just leave them be and not pick them up?
Yup perfectly normal 👌 👍
Other than to give them water or to track their weight, we really should just let them do their thing.
It's weird and bazaar to us, but it's normal to them.
As long as there isn't any health issues and none develope during brumation there really isn't much reason to disturb them.

So now and then would you get her out to give her water or will she just come out for it herself, thanks for your help 😊

I have to fetch my boy out of his hide on water days, I suspect it'll be the same for you.
If you happen to catch her out on her own though I'd take advantage to offer water then also.

Sorry to bother you we got her out and gave her like 2.5ml of water and she drank it all but looked hungry and ate 2 locust with calcium. I hope I did the right thing as she looked hungry. Will that be OK after giving them to her i thought i shouldnt of given her them. I put her under her light to bask so she could digest, sat there for 30 mins and then went back off to sleep 😴

Your not being a bother 🙂
If she is still waking on her own I'd make sure she poops before letting her go completely into brumation just in case. They really shouldn't have food in their stomach when they brumate.

Yeah school boy error, she basked for a while about half an hr, ill gey her up again tomorrow if she hasn't 💩 and make her bask again. Defo a daft move. Thanks for the advice again and sorry for all the questions.

Ask as many as you need. Everyone here is happy to help 😊
You may of been right after ten days of just being lazy and sleeping, when we got her out yesterday to give her some water she has been up all day and being her usual self. I think you first said sometimes they have a week or two of just chilling out, I don't think it was brumation or a very small one.
