Hey guys, this is a topic I've already posted, but I put it in behavior and it got no attention, so I'm going to post it here.
My beardie Bandit has been lazy lately. He will stay on his cool side for a long time, he doesn't bask very often, and has recently been seen curled up under his basking light, like as if he was getting ready to sleep. He had done that twice. Are these signs of brumation? I know I'm not an expert on the subject, but I do know that when they are going into brumation, they eat less, and Bandit still loves to eat. I don't know if it means he going in it or not. Thanks
Normally this time of year the dragons should be coming out of brumation. How old is he?
You mentioned that he still has an appetite?
Can you review your tank setup with us, such as the type & brand of UVB lighting, temperatures & supplementation for us?

Nice looking setup, Bandit looks happy. He is a good size for 10 months, too. How is he doing today?
The Solarglo MVB 160 watt is fine. What is the distance from him & the light?
That particular light is pretty decent as far as the UVB readings.
At his age, you can continue to give calcium supplementation 5 days per week right now since he is still growing.
Has he become more active at all?

Brumation can hit later than with others. Has he been basking normally for quite awhile then & this is a recent thing for him?
I would say if he isn't losing any weight right now to let him relax & bask when he needs to. Eventually he will get out of the rut, but if you wanted to, you could get a fecal done on him to be sure he doesn't have worms or parasites.
I agree that his set up looks pretty good. How do you hydrate him ? Be sure to offer water at least every other day. One more thing.....with a mercury vapor bulb, you'll need the calcium withOUT D3. Too much D3 can be a problem. Dusting with regular calcium every other day should be fine.

Yes, if you have a mercury vapor bulb it produces much more UVB and it's recommended to use calcium without D3. Just but a bottle of the powder without D3 to use twice a week and use the one you have once a week and that should work out fine and will last you for years.
