Just took my 4.5 yo Chiao to health check due to coming brumation in October, Vet said Chiao is good, except She found 1 egg in her belly in xray which not coming down to pelvic yet , but not binding, Chiao just start to lay egg in her 4 yo age,she laid 3 clutches eggs this year, and last time she laid was July1 (20eggs)which was 2 months ago, she missed out 1 egg in her body!!vet recommended introduce her to digging box and warm bath.. if still not working surgery might be the choice, I was shocked that 1 egg need SURGERY to remove, what if I ignore it and have her go to brumation with 1 egg in the body?I dont want my baby go through operation for 1 egg(not stucking).any suggestion? I bathe and maggage her belly everyday Chiao still doesnt realize or feel like she want to lay!?

I'll call vet Tuesday (holiday tomorrow )have them email me xray and I'll post it right away!
Hi @AHBD
Here is the Xray, Ignore that big chunk of poop, she ate beetles by mistake cause constipation, vet gave her enema and fecal is out right away. So Vet said she saw 1 egg is partially in the pelvis, should be out after constipation out. but its been almost a week after she defecated in pet hospital, I dont see Chiao want to lay, even before constipation(it happen last week) she never show sign of laying after she finish her last clutch at July1st. she eat and poop and bask normally now, I give her warm bath plus massage and put her in dig box, hopefully she would feel like to lay, Its her first year laying egg, I have no idea what to do and what else I can do except panic!! Thanks! Ruby

O.K, thanks for posting the xray ! Just an FYI though, never give a dragon an enema unless they are severely impacted by a large amount of sand or something, they will 99% of the time pass food by giving them natural laxatives like canned pumpkin, applesauce baby food squash and a few drops of veg. oil or honey. Was she lethargic after the enema ?
As for the xrays can see some type of shape in the picture on the right but not convinced it's an egg. If it is the vet could give a shot of Oxytocin to help her pass it. Other than that it still may come out during a warm 10 minute soak.

Yes you are right, she was lethargic after enema, was that due to electrolyte imbalance? ok I will keep doing warm bath or see if vet provide shot if its egg.Thank you, Ill keep updating.

Hello,

I totally agree, avoid enemas at all costs. They just aren't worth the risk, especially if the vet
hasn't done many in the past. It's easy to injure them during this type of procedure.

Currently trying not to stress over my anemic dragon....she is being treated, but I don't agree with her treatment plan and have been seeking out a second opinion from another vet. If anyone else has dealt with anemia, please let me know how it was resolved. I am losing sleep over this
Another post lol. My beardie does not like enclosures. Her tank is the kids room and she has created a nesting/bed spot in the corner. She will cuddle with my son but she know when the lights are out and the kids go to sleep, she literally goes to her bed like she is our 3rd baby. I love her. And to think, I never wanted a beardie lol
Please help. My beardie is my baby and I am worried she may be egg bound but I can't tell. She is over 2 yrs old and has never laid an egg. She has been swollen for two days and can't tell if she may be impacted or egg bound. Please help.
I'm still looking to adopt. I live near Homerville Georgia.
