I have a few questions about Brumating.. Zues started to get sleepy the first part of October and went into full brumation on Halloween. We did everything we normally do when it's this time of year, I gave him baths every week, monitored his weight and kept a close eye on him. Around December we noticed that he was in a really deep sleep and I started to worry, I tried eveything I could to peak his interest but he just wanted to sleep. I called his vet and was told that as long as he was not dehydrated or loosing weight to let him sleep. In late January he was still brumating but he looked ok so I let him sleep. A few weeks ago I took him out because I was so worried... He's still a bit lethargic, just wants to sleep and I've been force feeding him. Should I put him back? Do beardies brumate this long??? Zues is 8 yrs old and I'm worried it's just old age.. We lost our baby Seuzy in August of last year and I can't stand the thought of loosing Zues.. Am I doing him more harm than good by waking him up to soon?
I don't know much about brumation as this is my dragon's first year doing it.... but Captain Jack started to get lethargic in mid Oct. as well and he's only just started to wake up the last few days. He still refuses to eat (i give him baby food here and there over the past few months) but he hasn't lost much weight. Maybe Zeus will start waking up on his own soon? sorry to hear that he is causing you worry
Sounds alot like what Zues has been doing.. he hasn't lost any weight and not looking dehydrated. He just has no interest in eating..I've been doing much of the same, baby food, viti's and calcium. This morning I noticed when I gave him (forced fed) some greens, he started to breath really heavy. I made a Vet appointment for him, think some blood work may be a good idea just to be sure he's not sick.
Yah a vet apt. might not be a bad idea. If Captain Jack doesn't start eating something soon I was going to make a check up apt. for him to ease my nerves lol. He's just a year and a half old so this is his first year brumating. Very new to me for a pet to do. lol
