Picture coming up!
I can't turn upwards!!! But there he is!
I can't turn upwards!!! But there he is!
I've bought a few on morphmarket, waiting is the worstI changed the 125 so it doesn’t look like it was Broly’s place. I also put it away for now. No logs, no guinea pig liner..nothing left. Kane doesn’t associate the tank with his older brother. Well, that was the goal. The urn is back on the mantle so my african grey can visit him too.
So we did tell the breeder February 9th will be perfect to come get Bee. We still have snow on the passes and highway patrol won’t let you pass without snow chains/tires so yeah. Probably should have prepared for that, we didn’t so we said the 9th. The days are going slow unfortunately lol.
I never leave mine out together unsupervised either. It's not worth the risk. But that being said it doesn't take long to see which ones like each and which ones don't lol. My girl Zsa Zsa doesn't like anyone. I have to watch her closely, Lucy is the same. She trys to go after everyone else. She is still small so I don't get her out when othets are. My boys couldn't care less who's out with them they are both pretty relaxed. It sounds like you're getting all of our Alaska weather. We haven't had much snow here this winter, and last month it warmed up into the 40's and actually *rained*! (unheard of here in January) Now it's cleared up and gone down to 0 - low teens and no snow -- most of what was already there had melted. Looked like April for a while and now it's January again, never mind what the calendar says. This is the weirdest winter I've ever seen. Hopefully you will get shoveled out soon so you can pick up Bee. I'm sure the breeder understands.
That's amazing about Kane and the pendant. I wonder how he knew Broly was in there, or if he did? I agree with you and xp29. We don't give animals enough credit in general, beardies in particular. That being said, I would never leave beardies (or cats and ferrets, which I used to have) out of their enclosures unsupervised, even if it didn't look like they were going to kill each other. I introduced them slowly -- I remember the look my cat gave me once: "*Gasp* You took one of those things out of the cage!" Something of the same sort will probably work with your already resident beardies and the new one. And it sounds like a good idea not to overwhelm little Bee with the big tank until he gets bigger himself.
My sister's grandson has a bearded dragon and the other day she asked me about vegetables -- their beardie won't eat his veggies. I told her that Puff hardly ate any veggies either and he lived to be 10 years old, and with adenovirus for all that. Our vet was impressed. Besides saying that they're antisocial and solitary and implying that they don't grieve for their lost buddies, the bearded dragon books say that most of their diet should be greens and veggies when they're adults. The problem is, real live bearded dragons don't read the bearded dragon books. I told my sister not to worry about it. It's going to be interesting to see if you can get Bee to eat his veggies when he grows up. In the meantime, I bet you're going to have lots of fun feeding him massive quantities of little bitty crickets while he's growing![]()
I want to visit Alaska SOOO bad, but I might not come back.I think it makes a difference when they can see each other and maybe wave at each other through the glass walls. We got our beardie 12 years ago [gone over the Rainbrow Bridge now] from a rescue in the spring, mating season, and all the males were in their separate tanks head bobbing and black bearding at each other through the glass. Ours was an adult, although on the smallish side, so I told him not to mess with those guys because they were bigger than him
You're not doing any worse than my mother when I first moved up here. She'd call me up in the middle of the winter and brag about how it was 70 degrees and she was sitting in the sun by the pool. I think she was trying to get me to come back to California. I guess it was sweet that she missed me. But then she called up once and said "It's 40 degrees and it's SO COLD and I'm FREEZING..." "Mom, I have *no sympathy* -- you've been calling me up and bragging about how warm it is there. Don't tell me about cold. 40 is WARM, as far as we're concerned here in Alaska. Enjoy. Do you know what the temperature is here? Below 0..."![]()
He is stinken awesome
I live in Anchorage. But the real Alaska is only a few miles awayI want to visit Alaska SOOO bad, but I might not come back.
I'm a country boy. I grew up in the woods and creeks and love the outdoors. I love having room to breathe and to get away from crowded places. The cold is not a deterrent for me... my girlfriend on the other hand lol
I think it's perfectly normal for a beardie to live in Alaska, he just needs some thermal undies for the really cold nightsI live in Anchorage. But the real Alaska is only a few miles awayMy husband would rather live out in the woods and telecommute, but I need indoor plumbing and grocery stores and stuff. I told him he can live that kind of lifestyle if he wants to but he'll have to divorce me and marry some Native girl who is used to it. We've been married 25 years now and we're still in love so we stay in Anchorage. And we don't think there's anything crazy about trying to maintain an Australian desert environment in a little glass box in our living room (with a bearded dragon in it). Did that for 9 years.
