It’s been a while already.

I made decent money not a lot but good enough. Everyone loved my bearded dragon stuffed animal as my mascot. A lot of people asked if it was for sale I said no. I ended up having the stuffed dragon behind the table instead of on the front table so it wouldn’t be asked if it’s for sale.

Made a friend with the girl on the table next to me. Her name is Nina she’s a really good artist she thought my stuff was cute along with the mascot. I thought her stuff was also cute with her mascot which a demented looking cat stuffed animal LOL. I don’t know what it really was supposed to be. She asked if we could collab next year. I said sure sounds fun. Next year we’ll have the same table and have the drawings feature each other’s characters. We got each other’s number so we know what the other is doing. Wouldn’t be cool if we both came up with the same drawings LOL.

I guess that’s all for now.

Glad to hear that that you managed to make some $ with your art and made a friend too. I used to oil paint -- mostly landscape and some seascape and florals. Never had much luck selling my paintings though.

Same old same old around here, except that my husband lost his job and is looking for a new one. Hopefully he can find one that pays better than the last one. It would be nice if he could get back on with the state. He's got enough experience as a professional computer wiz now that he should be able to qualify for the same state job he had a few years back, or even the next level up. He's had a few interviews already and another one coming up next week.

Cooling off and getting rainy around here. September is usually the wettest month with August running a close second. I finally turned on the heater. Duck, Alaska -- here comes another winter.

Another month has passed.

Broly’s been trying to sleep though I won’t let him because something is up with his eye. I don’t see crusting but he is keeping it closed. Tom will see if there’s an infection in his eye. I don’t see anything but Im not a vet. Broly opens it to walk or eat but other than that he keeps it closed. I thought he was sleeping till I saw his other eye and he’s actually awake. I guess that’s it. Oh right it’s also cooling off here.

Our vet told us that it's not a good idea to let you beardie brumate if he's not in really good health (definitely not a good idea with Puff when he was older, but he never tried to brumate anyway, so no problem), so I don't blame you for trying to keep Broly awake. Hopefully there's nothing seriously wrong with his eye. If there's no discharge that's probably a good thing.

My husband has had several job interviews, and a background check. One of our friends reminded us that if they wanted a background check, then they must be pretty serious about possibly hiring him. We'll see.

It's below freezing most of the time here now, which is normal for this time of year. I'm planning to hole up next to the heater and not go outside unless I absolutely have to.

It’s very swollen and he says it’s probably a mass. Either abscess or tumor. So he dosed 0.5ml meloxicam for his eye as he’s very uncomfortable it’s for pain. Just one thing after another...

Tom will get in touch with specialists who are more qualified than him to operate around the eye as he’s not comfortable doing that as it’s well...the eye! He’s just afraid he’ll mess up and that area is difficult to mess with.

He wants to try eye drops to see if it’s a really bad infection. The fact is not showing discharge makes him think otherwise, but we’ll try first. If he reacts badly to it he’s not going to administer it anymore. He’s going to call around tomorrow morning as it’s almost 6:30pm and most vet offices are closed for the night. We are going to have to travel far however for this once we find someone who’s willing.

Right now, he just got meloxicam (I think I accidentally did a bit over 0.5 but not much shouldn’t be overdose though) I have activated charcoal just in case for accidents like this happen. He seems alright though and Tom said he should be fine as I didn’t give half a syringe or anything big like that. He warned not to do that again and pay very close attention next time. We’re letting him relax and not push too much onto him. He’s sleeping for the night.

As you say, one thing after another... I hope that whatever is up with Broly's eye, that it turns out not to be serious. It's good that Tom knows his limitations and doesn't want to try something he's not comfortable with. Hopefully you will find someone close by so you don't have to travel a long way. At least the pain medication should help keep Broly more comfortable in the meantime, and good to have the charcoal around just in case. Sounds like you are both doing everything you can for him.

So remember that fat pad that was supposedly coming up without the others?...yeah that’s swelling in the area. There isn’t fat pads. He’s declining and his health is miserable. I don’t think there’s much more than to keep him comfortable till he passes or put him down which is the humane thing to do if he’s having too much trouble and quality of life is bad. He’s willing to wake up and ate some food, got his eye drops which he didn’t like but he’s not in excruciating pain. Tom and I will have a serious talk as Im not sure it’s an eye infection. I think something else is going on behind the eye. The swelling is soft though not hard like a rock if that means anything. He doesn’t react when you gently press it. I don’t know anymore...well Halloween plans changed so other family members will watch the dogs. I should stay here and keep Broly in a calm environment which would be home. I’ll turn on fear fest and watch horror movies with him.

We talked. We both decided we will put him down when he’s not happy living anymore (Tom will euthanize him). Despite his swollen eye problem he’s actually very happy right now. No black beard (sometimes though) and when we find out it’s staying constantly black we will say goodbye. It’s selfish to let him live like that because I don’t want a dark tank all day. For now we will spend time with him and let him tell us how he’s feeling. Tom doesn’t think he can survive another round of surgery especially up on his head many things can go wrong or he won’t wake up from it. I hope everyone doesn’t think Im using happy or unhappy as a way of knowing and being selfish. I’ll do what I have to do.

We just went through this with Ruby. She was good till she wasn't. I know it hurts and is hard to even think about, but you know your boy, and you will know when it's time. We did with Ruby. There is no judgment. Enjoy the time you have with him, make him know he's loved, and we will be here for you when you need us to be 🫂

He seems better today. Today been 48 hours. I accidentally squirted meloxicam outside the blueberry I didn’t realize the needle’s end was sticking out LOL. It’s ok I rolled the blueberry in it so it’s on it at least. He fought the eye drops so before I could get in his eye he walked off. I finally managed it in his eye. He threw up last night not water or squash, kiwi and dragonfruit just the blueberry...one lone berry. Broly also refused eye drops last night and wanted sleep. Unfortunately I had to get him to open his eye. He did wake up and ready to eat. He fought Tom when trying to open his mouth trying to assess him. Tom just wanted to make sure the inside of his mouth was fine. We assume it is because he eats fine when he wants to. He’s hearing our crickets going off in the next room just staring at the open door. He knows they’re in there. I gave him critical care because he has no fat pads. He’s so high in spirits he isn’t giving up just yet. He took the critical care just fine. Broly saw the syringe and slurped every drop down. The fat pads haven’t recovered from liver cancer. He’s cancer free but still the fat pads didn’t recover yet.

Thank you xp. Im sorry Ruby wasn’t ok in the end. I bet you did everything for her. He seems alright right now.

I think you're doing the right thing by letting Broly enjoy life as long as he can. I know you will miss him when his time comes, but it seems that you know him well enough to tell when it's time to make that decision, difficult as it may be. You have loved him and given him a long and happy life.

I agree with xp -- enjoy your time with him and let him know he's loved, like they did with Ruby. We tried to do the same with Puff, but you always miss them when they're gone. I hope that whatever time you have left with Broly will be good for you and for him.

Thank you Bailey.

He ate 12 crickets and some greens. Wait what? Well that’s strange he hasn’t touched greens since he was a juvie (though they were offered every single day and still are being offered). Maybe he’ll keep on eating them nope he stopped. Oh well it was great he wanted to. He seemed so hungry too biting his blanket. He went crazy with the eye drops he’s so not a fan. At night, I try them again but he’s too tired so it’s a bit more complicated to get him to open it. I keep having to pick him up so his eye is open. I think it looks maybe 5% better. I see him every day so it’s hard to see any changes. Showing pics to my mom she seems to think it’s better than Oct 21. It’s so weird how this just popped up out of nowhere. It was fine everything was fine. No gradual growing just...there one morning. He seems interested in Paw Patrol The Mighty Movie we’ll watch this till it ends and find something else. It could be the flashy colors that has his eye. Well it’s time I go make it to the moderator meeting. Everyone gotta be on the same page on the server Im on.

They never cease to surprise you, do they? Puff rarely ate greens, but we could get him to eat a few pieces of leaf once in a while. My husband tried using a leaf for a spoon with a roach on it, but Puff was wise to that. Good that Broly is eating whatever you can get him to eat. At least he hasn't lost his appetite -- that's gotta be a good sign.

No telling what they see and hear when they watch TV. There was a video on YouTube about a bearded dragon trying to catch ants on a cell phone video game. My husband put it on his cell phone and showed it to Puff, but Puff wasn't fooled -- blank stare. I'd say if a movie keeps Broly entertained, go for it.

Geez I feel like I should stick the meloxicam in something else. A blueberry every 3 days isn’t good. Squash is too hard to even jam the needle in and collards well it’s not possible. All I have is fruit lol. It’s the only way he’ll get the dose anyway. I guess it’s ok. I got yellow squash (it’s under daily) he doesn’t seem to understand it. I suppose makes sense all he ever saw was orange squash (butternut) and collards with shredded carrot. I don’t offer carrot every day. Im just here with him sipping peppermint mocha while it’s raining with our fireplace going as it got cold enough for it.

Broly is still very ravenous with food. He’s still hungry so that’s a good sign. An animal shouldn’t ever not be hungry (well maybe a couple days isn’t too bad but shouldn’t be ongoing). He tried to eat the cap to the syringe lol luckily I was able to grab it quickly from his mouth. It shows he’s hungry he hasn’t passed any waste yet I’ll be looking out for it. He eats like a pig so something should come out soon.

Sounds like berries are about the only thing you could put his medication in -- a nice little package for it. Seems like squash would just fall apart. It's good for hydration though because it soaks up water. Puff used to like kabocha squash and so did we. It tastes kind of like sweet potato. Yum.

Maybe Broly thought the cap was a bug? Puff used to go nuts with yarn and computer cables. I think he thought its was worms.

I used to keep track of Puff's poops, so I knew when it had been too long. He usually did it in his bath. It was easier to clean up after him that way too.

Sounds nice to cuddle up with your beardie and a mocha in front of the fire, especially when it's cold outside. It's snowing here. The last snow melted off before the day was over but it's cold enough now that this one will probably stick. We usually have snow on the ground by Halloween.
