Broken back HELP

One of my rescues Peppercorn was placed in a tank with an adult male when she was a baby and needless to say it beat her up good. The customer returned her to the breeder and eventually she ended up being rehomed with me. Peppercorn has a permanent S shape to her back and she cannot use her back legs very well. The general consesus is that her back was broken either during the attack or its a break from MBD (my vet did not have a way to tell). The person I got her from said they expected her to pass away but shes a trooper! By the time I got her she was 2 years old.

Peppercorn mostly drags her back legs and when she first came home with us she had no resistance in her back legs at all (jelly legs). After a little over a month with good lighting and calcium we are starting to feel a little resistance. Her back does not seem to cause her pain and she is quite sweet. We are not expecting her to gain all of her mobility back but considering the damage she sustained, she is doing pretty good.

So do not give up! Even badly hurt beardies with broken backs can recouperate and surprise everyone.

Thanks for all the support you guys!!!! Tiamat is actually "walking" around the bottom of his tank today. He's still not using the back legs but he's pulling himself along and is almost using his tail as a extra boost by swinging it around. SO excited to see him eating and moving around again!!! :D

Hello,

That is wonderful news for him! :blob5:
I hope that he will have a quick recovery for you & for his sake also. AT least he is eating on his own so that is a great sign he is not in pain or distress right now.

Keep us posted on him!

Hope beyon Hope has come back! Little T used one of his back legs for just a short moment yesterday and was almost able to support his weight. He used his rt back leg and tail to rock backwards!!! I'm so excited and hopeful that this is a sign of healing! :blob5: :blob8:

Thank you everybody for your condolences. We buried Tiamat last night in the garden under a beautiful flowering bush. Its hardest in the mornings when we are turning everyone's lights on and his tank has to be kept dark. Poor Black Beard sits in his tank and gazes over at T's and cocks his head to the side like he's trying to figure out where he went. Been giving lots of attention to him and Rango has come back to live with us, so still a full house. I will be posting something on the celestial army as soon as i can bear to do it. Thanks again everyone who tried to help and offered suggestions, and thank you again for your condolences. I really love you guys!

I have questions about bubbles on our bearded dragons eye.

So he’s gotten bubbles on his eye. We wiped them off and it’s only been twice in the last few weeks. Should we be concerned? No coughing or congestion. He’s very hungry and sleeps well. He’s 8-9 month range. His humidity is 30-40 day time and as high as 50-55 at night to early morning.
Should we be concerned?
Swordtail has been doing a whole lot of "Lizard yoga" lately
Currently trying not to stress over my anemic dragon....she is being treated, but I don't agree with her treatment plan and have been seeking out a second opinion from another vet. If anyone else has dealt with anemia, please let me know how it was resolved. I am losing sleep over this
Another post lol. My beardie does not like enclosures. Her tank is the kids room and she has created a nesting/bed spot in the corner. She will cuddle with my son but she know when the lights are out and the kids go to sleep, she literally goes to her bed like she is our 3rd baby. I love her. And to think, I never wanted a beardie lol
