I have read many topics on this. Some say their beardies never go into brumation, others claim they are literally sleeping for 6 months.
Has anyone successfully bred a line that tends to shy away from brumation? I used to keep iguanas and this was never an issue. I am not interested in breeding, just in keeping a few beardies for pets. I am not sure how i can deal with a pet that goes down for months though. I would be worried sick about his health I think.
Every Dragon is different, I have never forced burmation on mine. However I am doing a controlled cool down cycle. Its been proven to me that the cool down makes for healthier breeders and better clutch's. I dont thinks its being bred out, so much as not being needed in captivity. The timers are still there so to speak. In captivity the triggers just arent in place to activate the timers.
